The Task

In my role as a UX designer, I was responsible for creating a user-friendly and visually compelling website for Qling. The goal was to effectively communicate Qling's vision and showcase its offerings. The website also highlighted popular courses and demonstrated how these courses have empowered working professionals to excel in their careers and businesses.

Timeline

I delivered the website in just 3 weeks, working closely with my manager and marketers. In the first week, I organized the content, sketched the initial designs, and gathered feedback from cross-functional teams. In the second week, I refined and iterated on these designs based on team input during multiple review sessions. In the third week, I collaborated with developers to successfully launch the website.

Designing Information Architecture

My manager and I identified key elements needed to meet both our goals and user needs for the website. We used information architecture to effectively organize these elements on paper, which helped us systematically structure the sections and ideas. This approach ensured a cohesive, user-centric design.

  1. Navigation Bar - A streamlined menu for easy access to all major site sections.

  2. Hero Section - Introduces Qling, highlighting its unique value and what it excels at. Provide two CTAs, a primary CTA to easily enroll in the courses and a secondary CTA to access the courses.

  3. Offerings - Showcases Qling's distinct approach and what sets it apart from competitors.

  4. Popular course - Displays trending courses, helping users quickly identify popular learning options.

  5. Quiz for course recommendation - Invites users to take a quiz for personalized course recommendations based on their work backgrounds.

  6. Testimonials - Features learner feedback to build trust and credibility.

  7. Ebook Offer - Provides a free ebook on data analysis as an additional learning resource.

  8. Footer - Contains essential links and social media channels for further engagement.

The process underscored the value of clear communication with stakeholders to capture their vision and requirements. I gained insights into balancing aesthetics with functionality, enhancing user engagement through intuitive design, and effectively showcasing content to maximize impact.

This experience reinforced my skills in translating complex ideas into user-centric solutions and the importance of iterative feedback in achieving design excellence.
